THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD Momiji Nishiya has become the THIRD YOUNGEST Olympic gold medal winner ever at Tokyo 2020.
The Japanese star is celebrating after writing her name into the history books in the women’s skateboarding street event.
Her nation was still celebrating their first Olympic skateboarding gold medal when Nishiya made the host country two-for-two in the debuting sport.
She misses out on being the youngest-ever gold medallist by just 63 days.
Nishiya outdueled Brazil’s Rayssa Leal, who is also 13, for the women’s street gold medal earlier today.
She finished with a score of 15.26 to claim the gold while Leal earned silver with 14.64.
Another Japanese skateboarder, Funa Nakayama, took the bronze medal with 14.49.
Nishiya’s win comes just 24 hours after Yuto Horigome won the men’s competition.
That made him the first-ever Olympic champion in the sport.
But it was the teenage stars who showed the previously male-dominated skating world has a host of female trailblazers ready to take over after the events at Ariake Urban Sports Park.

US skater Mariah Duran, 24, said: “It’s going to change the whole game.
“This is like opening at least one door to, you know, many skaters who are having the conversations with their parents, who want to start skating.
“I’m not surprised if there’s probably already like 500 girls getting a board today.”
