George R. Robertson, a Canadian actor, died on January 29, 2023, at the age of 89. He was most recognized for his roles in the Police Academy movies. George R. Robertson, born on April 20, 1933, began his career in stage plays before making his television debut in the 1960s. He appeared in TV series such as The F.B.I., E.N.G., Leap Years, The Path to 9/11, The Reagans, and others. He made his cinematic debut as an uncredited extra in Rosemary’s Baby, Marooned, and Airport. Before being cast in the Police Academy flicks, he acted in a few additional films. On March 23, 1984, the first Police Academy film was released, and it was a box office hit. He returned to reprise his part in five more films in the series, which was a box office triumph despite earning bad reviews.
He was also recognized for his roles in films such as U-Turn, Paperback Hero, Norma Rae, The Amateur, Murder by Phone, The Twilight Zone, Deceived, JFK, National Lampoon’s Senior Trip, Holiday Affair, Murder at 1600, and Still Mine.
